Parent and Family Support

Parents Plus

Early Years (Ages 0-6 yrs)

Children (Ages 6-11yrs)

Adolescence (12 yrs +)

These parenting programmes offer practical advice and support for all parents and are run in the Autumn/Winter and again in the Spring/Summer. The courses have run in the morning and evenings and for 6 – 8  weeks with each session approximately 2 hours. The course is based on the Parents Plus model of parenting and is open to parents of all backgrounds. Mothers/fathers or a parents with a supportive friend or family member are invited to attend.  A voluntary contribution of €3 – €5 per session is welcome. Parents Plus website:

Parent and Toddler Group

Tuesdays from 10.00am – 12.00pm

The Parent and Toddler group meet weekly at our centre. The group gives children a chance to play and mix with children in support of their development. It is also a social outlet and for parents from all backgrounds living in Dunmanway and surrounding area. €4.00 per family

This service closes for Christmas, Easter, Mid-term breaks and summer months.

Baby Talk

This is a HSE funded programme that runs regularly from the centre. It is a course of eight weeks and it offers advice and support for new parents. Topics are chosen by the parents, some of which include breastfeeding, nutrition, baby massage, and first aid. We run this eight week course in Autumn/Winter and again in Spring/Summer each year.

Breastfeeding Support Group

Every 1st & 3rd Thursday at FRC Kilbarry Road. This service is offered by Mary O’Donnell, Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
